Biography

Ilan Eshkeri (born 1979 in London) is a British composer whose work spans concert music, ballet, film and television. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has written music for film (Stardust, Kick-Ass, Still Alice, The Young Victoria) and television (Marco Polo, The Terror) as well as major ballet commissions.

His score for Wayne McGregor's The Wind (2022), created for Rambert, demonstrates his ability to blend orchestral writing with electronic sound design in ways that serve the demands of contemporary dance theatre. McGregor and Eshkeri developed the score in close collaboration, creating music of atmospheric sweep and rhythmic intensity that supports the work's exploration of elemental forces and collective movement. Eshkeri has also composed for the stage and for live concert performance, and is recognised as one of the most versatile and technically assured British composers of his generation.
