About

The Wyvern Theatre is Swindon's premier 635-seat theatre, located in the heart of the town centre at Theatre Square. Built between 1968 and 1971 as part of the Swindon Civic Centre development, the theatre was designed by renowned architects Casson, Conder and Partners. It was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 7 September 1971, marking a significant cultural milestone for the town.

The theatre presents a diverse range of programming including theatre, dance, comedy, music, family shows, and pantomime. With its intimate auditorium providing excellent sightlines throughout, the Wyvern offers an engaging performance experience for audiences of all ages. The venue has established itself as a hub for live entertainment in Wiltshire and the broader South West region, regularly hosting West End productions, ballet companies, and international touring shows.

Managed by Trafalgar Theatres, the Wyvern is fully accessible with dedicated wheelchair spaces, hearing support systems, sign language interpretation available for selected performances, and comprehensive accessibility facilities. Its town centre location offers excellent transport links, with Swindon Train Station a 10-minute walk away and convenient bus connections nearby.
