Eden Court Theatre
Eden Court Theatre is Scotland's largest combined arts centre, located on the banks of the River Ness in Inverness. Originally opened in 1976, the venue underwent a complete refurbishment and extension in 2007, reopening as a state-of-the-art cultural hub. Designed by Law Dunbar Naismith and rebuilt by Page/Park Architects, the theatre showcases distinctive contemporary architecture that complements Inverness's historic riverside setting.
The venue encompasses two theatres and two cinemas, offering diverse programming from touring productions and local theatre to live music, cinema screenings, and community arts engagement. The main Empire Theatre auditorium seats approximately 840 patrons, while the intimate OneTouch Theatre accommodates around 270 guests. The dual cinema screens—La Scala with 125 seats and The Playhouse with 78 seats—serve the region's film enthusiasts. A vibrant café bar completes the cultural experience, making Eden Court a comprehensive destination for the performing and visual arts.
As a registered charity, Eden Court remains committed to presenting world-class performances and fostering community engagement. The venue attracts touring ballet companies, opera productions, theatre troupes, and orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Its position as a regional cultural leader makes it an essential venue for performing arts in the Scottish Highlands.
