    Biography

    Christina Arestis is a Principal Character Artist of The Royal Ballet, promoted in 2017 following her long tenure with the Company since graduating from The Royal Ballet School in 1994. Born in Glasgow and raised in Cyprus and the Middle East, Arestis trained at the Mary Darke School of Dancing and was a junior associate of Scottish Ballet before joining The Royal Ballet School. At the School, she created the role of the lead girl in Matthew Hart's Simple Symphony in the 1993 annual matinee, and in her final year in 1994 danced with the Company in Symphony in C. Her extensive repertory encompasses character roles including Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, Lady Elgar in Enigma Variations, Berthe and Bathilde in Giselle, Paulina in The Winter's Tale, Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna in Anastasia, Madame Larina in Onegin, Hermia in The Dream, and Helene Vetsera and Empress Elisabeth in Mayerling. Her roles also extend to Carabosse and Step-sister in Cinderella, The Wife in The Concert, Bride in Les Noces, Beautiful Tsarevna in The Firebird, and roles in numerous other classical and contemporary works. Arestis has created roles in Qualia, Figure in Progress, Castle Nowhere and Frankenstein.
