Biography

Yuhui Choe is a South Korean First Soloist of The Royal Ballet, joining the company as an apprentice in 2002 after winning both the first prize and the Contemporary Dance Prize at the Prix de Lausanne. Born in Seoul, she began dancing as a child before moving to Paris at 14 to train with Daini Kudo and Dominique Khalfouni.

Choe made her solo debut as Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty in 2004 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2008 — the same year she won the Critics' Circle award for Best Female Artist. She was chosen as one of six women to create roles in Wayne McGregor's Infra, and her repertoire spans Nikiya in La Bayadère, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and a wide range of classical and contemporary works.
