Biography

Luca Acri is an Italian First Soloist of The Royal Ballet, promoted in 2019. Born in Switzerland to Italian-Japanese parents who are both ballet dancers, he trained at the family's Acri-Horimoto Ballet Academy in Japan before winning a place at The Royal Ballet School following a Prix de Lausanne final in 2010. He joined the company in 2013.

Acri is a versatile character-led dancer with a wide classical repertoire. His roles span Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, the White Rabbit in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Alain in La Fille mal gardée, Franz in Coppélia, Puck in The Dream, and Lescaut in Manon. He excels in both the comedic and dramatic registers of the classical canon.
