Biography
Mariko Sasaki is a Japanese First Soloist of The Royal Ballet, promoted in 2024. She trained at the Yuriko Kawaguchi Ballet School in Tokyo before winning a Prix de Lausanne scholarship to The Royal Ballet Upper School in 2010. She joined the company in 2014 and has steadily built a wide repertoire in both classical and contemporary works.
Sasaki is known for her musical precision and lyrical quality. Her roles include Odette in Swan Lake, Sugar Plum Fairy and Rose Fairy in The Nutcracker, Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty, and Katia in A Month in the Country. She has also created roles in Robert Binet's Dark with Excessive Bright and performed in The Dante Project and Like Water for Chocolate.
